Although the oboe was often entrusted with orchestral parts, the instrument was ignored by a majority of popular composers in the 19th and even 20th Centuries. In the 21st Century, classical musicians should not only be capable of exqusite technique and artistry, but also be forward-thinking for the current musical world, to create refreshing imagination and unlock more potential for oboe literature. The concert oboist Virginia Chang Chien recreates a series of Romantic works and programming as part of her concert series, "Revival Romanticism." We sincerely invite you to discover lryical sound and beautiful dialogue between the oboe, viola, and piano.

New York based pianist Daniel Colalillo and violist April Jiwon Kim will collaborate with oboist Virginia Chang Chien for this program featuring transcriptions of duo and trio works by Schumann and Beethoven – along with a trio work for oboe, viola, and piano by German composer August Klughardt, whose music was deeply influenced by Robert Schumann.
