Performing music from classical to classic rock, the Southwest Washington Wind Symphony will showcase the clarinet virtuosity of Matthew Nelson from the University of Louisville at a concert titled "SoundScape." Under the baton of conductor Patrick Murphy, the program will include Joe Hisaishi's soundtrack from Spirited Away, Aurora Awakes by John Mackey, Bohemian Rhapsody by Freddie Mercury, and much more. Matthew Nelson will perform excerpts from Introduction, Theme, and Variations by Gioachino Rossini and Black Dog by Scott McAllister. 

The Southwest Washington Wind Symphony is a 55-musician, professional quality concert band in its 18th season.

The Southwest Washington Wind Symphony is a 50-musician, professional quality concert band organized in 2005. The mission of the Southwest Washington Wind Symphony is to:
(1) nurture the appreciation of symphonic band music by performing free concerts for the community
(2) provide local musicians and music educators with opportunities for musical growth while performing challenging, high quality band literature
(3) encourage and support music education in the public schools with special emphasis on wind band music appreciation
(4) educate the audience and community on the cultural, historical, and musical significance of the symphonic band genre.
