This double bill comprises two fully staged one-act opéra-ballets, including the world premiere of Rameau's comedy Io. Conducted by harpsichordist Avi Stein and with stage direction by Nick Olcott, Opera Lafayette is joined by "theatrical genius" (The New Yorker) Machine Dazzle, who will create more than a dozen new costumes for the Io production.
The performances feature the extraordinary baroque soprano Emmanuelle de Negri and tenor Maxime Melnik in the title roles, along with soprano Gwendoline Blondeel, tenor Patrick Kilbride, bass-baritone Doug Williams, and the New York Baroque Dance Company and the Sean Curran Company.
