For World Refugee Day, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency (in collaboration with the Kennedy Center) presents Mariela Shaker: an accomplished violinist, award-winning refugee advocate, and UNHCR high profile supporter who survived conflict in Syria and found refuge in the United States. This moving performance will cast a spotlight on the plight of displaced Syrians during 12 years of crisis as they continue to endure hardship, insecurity, and exile, and begin to rebuild following February's devastating earthquake. She is accompanied by Riyad Nicolas, a multi-prize-winning concert pianist who is also from Aleppo and is Shaker's husband. Together they have dedicated themselves to building bridges, forging peace, and delivering a message of hope and compassion for refugees everywhere.

For all Millennium Stage performances, a limited number of advance reservations are available on a first come, first served basis. Advance reservations do not guarantee a seat, and patrons are encouraged to arrive early.

Online advance reservations for a given performance date will open on a rolling basis, opening every Wednesday two weeks out from the date.

For live Millennium Stage performances free tickets will also be available at the Hall of States Box Office on the day of the performance, beginning at 4:30pm.

Seating is first come, first served. Standing room is available behind the seated area as space allows.
