This moving and engaging program, performed by the young artists of Aquilon Music Festival includes authentic Ukrainian folk songs, as well as works by Mykola Lysenko, Platon Maiboroda, Myroslav Skoryk, Vasyl Barvinsky, Oleksander Oles, Kyrylo Stetsenko, Yakiv Stepovy, Myroslav Volynsky, and others.
The program will feature Inna Kovtun, one of the leading authorities on traditional Ukrainian folk music. She has performed around the world bringing the sights and sounds of Ukraine to the world at large.
We will also be joined by Valentyn Lysenko – a foremost performer on the bandura, Ukraine's iconic psaltery.
About Inna Kovtun, voice
Inna Kovtun is a folklorist and ethnographer, a researcher and collector of folklore traditions, a performer, and an educator. She is the highly regarded musical and artistic director of the Rozhanytsya folk ensemble based in Kyiv, the lead vocalist of the international project EDK, and the lead singer of the ethno-rock band Astarta. Inna is also the Deputy General Director of the Kyiv Municipal Brass Orchestra. She has performed and given workshops all around the world.
