Dynamic conductor Thomas Wilkins leads the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra in a riveting program of music in dialogue with the Classical period, kicking off with the overture to Cimarosa's delightful opera The Secret Marriage. The virtuosic Xavier Foley showcases the vast capabilities of the bass in Bottesini's Double Bass Concerto No. 2, and shines as soloist alongside Concertmaster Ruggero Allifranchini in Foley's own double concerto, For Justice and Peace. In the second half, the finale from Fela Sowande's African Suite sets the stage for prolific composer Adolphus Hailstork's Symphony No. 1—a striking work that brings the influence of the Neo-Classical lineage together with nods to the Classical era.

The performances will be streamed live for FREE on the Hauser Digital Wall in the lobby of David Geffen Hall. Please join us!

This program will receive 2 performances: Friday, July 28, and Saturday, July 29, both at 7:30pm in Wu Tsai Theater.
