About Alif Laila, sitar

Alif Laila's training, in Dhaka Bangladesh, is in the Senia Maihar Gharana with Ustad Mir Qasem Khan, nephew of the legendary Ustad Allaudin Khan (Ravi Shankar's guru). She has performed in venues such as The Shakespeare Theater, The Terrace Theater (Kennedy Center), The Bangladesh National Museum (Dhaka) The Sangeet Research Academy Festival (Kolkata India), The Purcell Room – South Bank Center (London, UK) etc. She has recorded and performed with the living legends of tabla like Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, Ustad Tari Khan. Her sitar DVD 'Hriydayaragam' was featured in the Smithsonian's Women's History Month in 2008 , her DVD 'Strings of Resonance' was nominated for the Best Classical Music Award in Bangladesh. She was featured in Aramco World magazine in 2020. She received the ‘Lifetime achievement Award’ from ASHA for her cultural contribution to society in 2010. She received the Independent Artists Award from MSAC in 2013. Alif is a prolific creator, director, and producer and an accomplished painter with extensive experience in multidisciplinary projects based on South Asian classical music. She is the founder and director of Sitar Niketan, a music school in Maryland.

About Anubrata Chatterjee, tabla

Anubrata Chatterjee is one of the leading tabla exponents of the current generation, and is the son and disciple of world-renowned tabla maestro Anindo Chatterjee. Anubrata's creative approach towards his music, traditional repertoire of Farrukhabad and Lucknow styles of tabla and a modern touch in the presentation of his art, makes him connect to the youth as well as the connoisseurs of music. He is a regular collaborator with stalwarts like Amjad Ali Khan, Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Birju Maharaj, Ranjit Barot, Shankar Mahadevan, etc.

About Khaled al Maouloui, Arabic percussion

Khaled al Maouloui is a Syrian professional percussionist and Dervish dancer hailing from a family of Sufi performers. Member of the Artists Syndicate in Damascus, Khaled participated in many international and local festivals with many singers and artists around the world.

About Laith Alattar, oud

Arab American composer, vocalist, and oud player Laith Alattar performs an assortment of traditional and contemporary Arabic and Middle Eastern music. Laith grew up in Baghdad at the crossroads of Arab, Ottoman, Persian, and Indian music traditions and later completed music training at the University of Michigan School of Music while also studying Arabic music and maqam through private apprenticeships. Leaning on his dual-career background in psychology, culture, and decision science, Laith is proactive in fostering cross-cultural musical collaborations that brings communities together, including partnerships with diverse embassies in Washington, DC to promote cultural diplomacy and understanding and bridge musical traditions among different communities.
