Opera on Tap: Songs of the Sea

Join us at Riverside Park on Pier 1 on August 20th and August 27th for Songs of the Sea!

Tickets are free and open to the public.

There will be a guest appearance by Bubbles and Buoy, the mermaid operatic duo. They will be performing their signature concert "Mermaid Melodies" with Captain Kat of the Good Ship Imagination. This family friendly show includes sing-a-longs, audience participation, and magic wishing shells. The mermaids encourage everyone to dress in their merbest for pictures after the concert!

Vibrantly infectious inflatable sea anemones from cari ann shim sham's Shimmer project will join the OperaCades for our Riverside Park events! The three small anemones are puppeted from the inside by dancers, people can interact, touch, and dance with them, triggering the voices of the anemones, which giggle, squeal, and sing to their audience. Yaoqing Wang is a mezzo-soprano who frequently performs with Opera on Tap NYC. She performed the role of First Witch with Manhattan School of Music Undergraduate Opera Theatre's 2023 production of Dido & Aeneas.
