Spring forward into spring with the Everett Phil as we celebrate our renowned conductor’s 40th year in Everett with a concert featuring some of the most passionate and emotional works of the symphonic repertoire!

We’ll open with the Symphonic Suite from On the Waterfront by Leonard Bernstein, the legendary American composer and conductor recently featured in Netflix’s Maestro. Based on his music for the award-winning film, the suite captures all the drama and intensity of the lauded movie.

Next, you’ll hear Poem for Flute and Orchestra by Charles Griffes, one of the most original and influential American composers of the early 20th century. This beautiful and atmospheric piece evokes the rich harmonies, delicate textures, and exotic timbres of composers like Debussy, and will showcase the expressive and virtuosic talents of Janelle Janovich.

The highlight will be the Pathétique symphony by Tchaikovsky, the master of Russian romanticism. The Pathétique is a powerful, personal statement of his inner turmoil and longing. It touches a spectrum of emotions from the somber opening, to the stormy and passionate allegro, the nostalgic waltz, dazzling scherzo, and tragic finale.

Join us Sunday, March 10, in the Everett Civic Auditorium. Concert at 3pm; stage-side chat at 2pm. Tickets $25-38; students with ID/18 & younger $10; five & under free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets & information at EverettPhil.org, our FaceBook page, info@everettphil.org, & (425) 585-8975.
