Otolithia is an experimental, ambient, and improvisational duo featuring Portland locals Tatiana Muzica and Josh Faber-Hammond. Their music is a unique combination of Japanese koto, multiple flutes, ethereal vocals, and electronics. The name is a fusion of the words 'otolith,' referring to a calcium carbonate structure in the inner ear of vertebrates used to maintain equilibrium, and 'lithia,' or lithium-containing water, which has been shown to reduce depression and stabilize moods for those who drink it regularly.
