Big Mouth Society presents an evocative fusion of music, storytelling, and exploration, culminating in an intergenerational dance party!

Hosted by Big Mouth's very own drag sensation Betty Poops, with support from Artistic Director Emily Lau, Queer & Dear weaves together rich choral harmonies, instrumental melodies, spirited drag artistry, and the diverse creativity of our queer collaborators.

"Queer & Dear: Echoes of Queerness through Song and Sequins" beckons attendees into a sonic tapestry like no other. Drawing on profound insights from our LGBTQIA+ predecessors, we proudly spotlight the poignant works of historic queer composers and the innovative brilliance of contemporary queer voices. Along with commissioned works by local composers Drew Swatosh and Jesse Ehrenberg, we will present music by Samuel Barber, Melissa Dunphy, Joshua Shank, Given, Dolly Parton, Bryce Caster, Craig Hella Johnson, and Pauline Oliveros.

More than a mere concert, this gathering offers a deep dive into the narratives and inspirations that have shaped the queer community. It’s a celebration designed for all, regardless of age or background, and we invite you to immerse yourself in the stories and feelings that connect, move, and shape us.

Ticket pricing is pay-what-you-will, from $20-$200. Big Mouth Society works to ensure open access to the arts and supports equitable treatment of artists. We invite you to choose a ticket price based on our sliding scale, and kindly suggest contributing the equivalent of an hourly wage per ticket purchased.

Shows at 2pm and 7pm.

About Big Mouth Society

Big Mouth Society is a community-supported collective of musicians that brings unique and thought-provoking projects to a diverse audience.

Our members are servants to the larger goal of supporting local artists and bringing community together through curated artistic experiences. We host live performances and projects throughout the year, in person and online, from informal salons and festive fundraisers to more traditional Mainstage concerts. We represent voices from countries around the world and are committed to being a champion of new music, rhetorical music and social change. Founded in 2017, we are led by award-winning composer, singer, and conductor Emily Lau and a group of passionate change-makers.
