About Rose V. Johnson, flute

Rose V. Johnson, freelance musician and flute pedagogue, resides in Seattle, Washington. Rose is an avid chamber musician, lending her skills to several professional ensembles including Compass Winds, Peregrine Rose Trio, and The Ladies' Quintessential Quintet. She has also held principal flute positions with Northwest Symphony and Ensign Symphony, served on the board of Seattle Flute Society in various positions, and served on the National Flute Association Performance Health Committee.

In addition to maintaining a full performance schedule regionally and nationally, her teaching studio garners respect throughout the Pacific Northwest. Her teaching philosophy of providing a well-rounded and fundamental-based learning experience that promotes physical, emotional, and mental health sets her apart as a master teacher. Her expertise is also in demand as a clinician in higher education, youth ensembles, and school outreach programs.

As founder and executive director of Collaborative Musicians' Project, Rose guides all efforts to support professional chamber ensembles, run a full-season youth ensemble program, and offer community and school outreach support services.

As a musician-advocate, Rose is passionate about projects that support music education and underrepresented musicians. She seeks out ways to engage composers and collaborators from marginalized groups, with the hope of using her platform to provide opportunity for others. Ongoing projects focus on collaborating with Mary Watkins, Adrienne Albert, Kari Medina, and other composers.

Rose began playing flute at age 8, and started formal training at the age of 14, with Erich Graf of the Utah Symphony. She continued her studies under the mentorship of Philip Swanson, receiving her Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from Northern Arizona University. She received a Master of Music in Flute Performance from University of Washington with Felix Skowronek. She currently pursuing a Master of Commercial Music degree at Azusa Pacific University. Rose is a Performance Artist for William S. Haynes Flute Company.

About Joanna Soh, flute

Meet Joanna Soh, a flutist partnering with the Flute Center of New York. You might know her from her popular YouTube channel "JustAnotherFlutist" where she shares her expert knowledge and reviews of different flutes in a relatable and easy-to-understand way. Her goal is to help flutists find the perfect instrument that fits their needs and budget. With over 48,000 subscribers, Joanna's channel has attracted many collaborators in the flute industry. She also opens the doors to her private practice sessions by live streaming them and inviting feedback from her viewers. In addition to her YouTube channel, Joanna teaches flute privately to a diverse group of students from all around the world. She truly loves connecting with other musicians of all skill levels and building a community that encourages thoughtful musical conversations in a safe environment.

Joanna has a Master's degree in flute performance from San Francisco State University and a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from the University of British Columbia. She also holds an Associate Diploma in Flute Performance through the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and has played with the Ensign Symphony and Chorus in Seattle as Third Flutist and Piccoloist. You can find her teaching content on Curious.com and she has been invited to teach at several masterclasses including Flutes by the Sea. Joanna is also a frequent guest on many flute- and music-related podcasts such as Flute Unscripted, Flute 360, "...But With All Due Respect," and Making It. She even hosts her own podcast, Let's Play It By Ear, where she and her best friend, bassoonist Carrie To-Ndung'u, have candid conversations about the realities of being a modern classical musician
