About Maki Ota, soprano
Japanese soprano Maki Ota's area of expertise is the capacity of experimental and avant-garde contemporary vocal music. In order to allow her to pursue her into the vocal works of Giacinto Scelsi under the tutelage of Michiko Hirayama in Rome, she was awarded a visitor's scholarship for the overseas study programme by the Japanese government.
Ota has been a participant at numerous festivals, including Il 50° Festival di Nuova Consonanza in Italy, Takefu International Music Festival in Japan, and Suntory Foundation of Arts Summer Festival in Japan.
