Kick off your Halloween season with this mirthful mix of Music+Morbidity. Inspired by Music Director Adam Stern’s youthful devotion to the horror genre, the concert will showcase the symphony’s strings in a range of pieces from the early 1800s to 1979. The concert will be bookended by classic horror film scores: Howard Shore's The Shape of Rage (from David Cronenberg's film The Brood) and Bernard Herrmann's Psycho: A Narrative for Orchestra from the Alfred Hitchcock classic. The concert will also feature Brazilian-born pianist Geísa Dutra playing Franz Liszt's Malédiction for piano and strings and Ralph Vaughan Williams' Five Variants on Dives and Lazarus.
