Join the Trinity Choir of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, the Kol Echad Choir of Congregation Beth Israel, and Pacific Youth Choir will join forces to present a concert of choral music entitled "The Road Home: Songs of Belonging, Safety, and Hope."

Featuring music from composers Stephen Paulus, Leonard Bernstein, Ben Steinberg, Shawn Kirchner, Susan LaBarr, Jake Runestad, and PYC's new artistic director Christopher Maunu, the ecumenical program will draw on themes of physical and mental safety; the immigrant experience; and mutual efforts to care for all members of the human family.

In addition to music from these three choral ensembles, this event will highlight stories and poetry readings that draw on similar themes. Portland-based and Kenyan-born artist, performer, and writer Brandt Maina will read selections of their poetry, and representatives from local outreach organizations, including Family Promise, NW Pilot Project, and WeShine will offer reflections and stories about their experiences, as will members of Portland's "Community Profile" group. Hosted by Profile Theatre, Community Profile helps first- and second-generation immigrants tell and share their stories, coached by award-winning writers.

Led by PYC's artistic director Chistopher Maunu, Cantor Ida Rae Cahana of Congregation Beth Israel, and Trinity's Canon for Music Katie Webb, this event promises to be both beautiful and deeply meaningful.
