Join us for an evening of colors and sounds! The Rainbow City Concert Band and Orchestra present music inspired by the spectrum of colors that illuminate our daily lives. The evening includes a solo performance by pianist Abel Lifschutz in the seminal classic, Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin and a performance by flutist Dr. Sara Bassingthwaite in a movement of the flute concerto, Silver Lining by Frank Tichelli. Additionally, the concert includes a world premiere by composer Caleb Gomes, commissioned by Rainbow City Performing Arts, in celebration of 25 years of building community through music.
About Rainbow City Concert Band
Rainbow City Concert Band is our inclusive performing ensemble to give our members opportunity to perform a broad an exciting array of concert music for wind ensemble. We welcome members of all abilities, backgrounds, and identities. In a given instrument section you might find a college student, a music teacher, a recent retiree, or a professional musician. Though varied in skill, what we have in common is our shared mission and a love of making music in a fun, welcoming environment.

Rainbow City Orchestra welcomes members of all abilities, backgrounds, and identities. We are brought together for a shared space of support and growth to play music for a different purpose than most orchestras. Our concerts a filled with music to highlight and celebrate marginalized artists and identities while sharing our performances with artists that represent, uplift, and excite LGBTQIA+ communities. We're growing to include many members who have not felt accepted in their identity in other groups, or who wish to play more diverse styles of music. Allies are also welcome and we are all one family together that spans identity, race, and class distinction.

Rainbow City Performing Arts (RCPA) is a nonprofit organization that celebrates LGBTQIA+ diversity and inclusion through musical expression. RCPA consists of seven performance ensembles that play various genres of music, such as jazz, orchestra, sports band, and drumline. RCPA's mission is to create a safe and supportive environment for musicians of all identities, skills, and backgrounds, and to promote the equity and visibility of LGBTQIA+ people in the community. RCPA also supports young and marginalized artists by commissioning new works and providing instruments and scholarships.
