Felix Mendelssohn — A Midsummer Night's Dream, Op. 61
Mendelssohn's music accompanied by live theatrical narration of Shakespeare's poetry will transport us to Shakespeare's fantastical world of fairies and magic spells, with puckish strings, chattering woodwinds, and brassy fanfares. Principal Guest Conductor Jun Märkl leads this enchanting work with the Portland State Thorn Choir – alongside Strauss's Death and Transfiguration, an electrifying musical poem exploring the spiritual journey of passing lives.
Runs Nov. 18-20.
