To honor International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 79th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, MOR joins forces with the young talents of the University of Washington Chamber Orchestra, the Northwest Boychoir and Seattle Girls Choir in a special program of music and words honoring the millions whose lives were taken.

About Megan Renae Parker, soprano
About Karen Early Evans, mezzo-soprano
Karen Early Evans has performed the role of Fiordiligi with Utah Opera and Tacoma Opera. She was most recently heard singing Bach's Peasant Cantata with Yakima Symphony and the Witch in Hansel and Gretel with Bellevue Opera, where she has also performed the role of the 1st Lady in their production of The Magic Flute. She sings regularly with the Seattle Opera chorus and was recently invited to sing the roles of Nurse and Trang in a workshop for Amelia, a newly commissioned work for Seattle Opera. Ms. Early Evans performed Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Northwest Sinfonietta as soprano soloist and has also been a soloist with Tacoma Symphony, Boise Philharmonic, Utah Symphony and Eugene Concert Choir. She has performed roles with Lyric Opera Northwest, Skagit Opera, Opera Idaho and Glimmerglass Opera. Ms. Early Evans has been honored as a Finalist in the Metropolitan National Vocal Competition as well as the Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition. She was chosen as the audience favorite in both the Eleanor Lieber competition and the Bella Voce competition.

Jonathan Green, double bass, joined the Seattle Symphony as Assistant Principal Bass in 1998. He was the double bassist for the world premiere and recording of several Music of Remembrance commissions: Thomas Pasatieri's Letter to Warsaw, Paul Schoenfield's Camp Songs and Ghetto Songs,and Gerard Schwarz's Rudolf and Jeanette. He can also be heard on MOR's recording of Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer’s Out of Darkness (Naxos 2014).

From time to time during the year, the University of Washington Symphony Orchestra may be reduced or split into smaller groups that perform as the UW Chamber Orchestra. Composed of members of the University Symphony, the UW Chamber Orchestra, directed by David Alexander Rahbee, is focused on chamber orchestra, chamber ensemble, and string orchestra repertoire from the Baroque through modern times.
