Joe Hisaishi became interested in minimal music during his student days, starting his contemporary music composer career. Over the past 30 years, he has worked on numerous film scores, and in recent years, he has also conducted. Throughout this time, he has continued composing in the minimalist music style rooted in his origins. In 2014, Joe Hisaishi initiated the "MUSIC FUTURE" concert series to introduce outstanding contemporary music. With a minimalist perspective, he curated cutting-edge music, showcasing lesser-known composers with limited performance opportunities in Japan despite receiving high acclaim in the West. This unique and innovative project aimed to present Hisaishi's new works while highlighting composers rarely featured in Japan.

Now, he brings his MUSIC FUTURE series to Benaroya Hall for an intimate chamber concert featuring Seattle Symphony musicians and commentary from Joe Hisaishi, who will also conduct two of the works.
