At just 18 years old, Yunchan Lim recently became the youngest pianist ever to win the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. His electrifying performance also earned him the Audience Award, garnering votes from more than 84 different countries, while jury chair—the illustrious Marin Alsop—praised Lim as "that rare artist who brings profound musicality and prodigious technique organically together." He now makes his Carnegie Hall debut on our most storied stage, performing an all-Chopin program of etudes.

Since becoming the youngest person to ever win Gold at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition
—in 2022, when he was 18 years old—Yunchan Lim has ascended to international stardom. His audacious performance of Liszt's Transcendental Etudes and appearance with Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 delivered the defining moment of competition. The following year Lim made successful orchestral debuts with the New York Philharmonic and Los Angeles Philharmonic, as well as the Chicago, Lucerne, KBS, and Tokyo symphony orchestras, among others, and recital debuts at London's Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, Tokyo's Suntory Hall, and the Seoul Arts Center.
