The internationally laudedAmerican pianist Michael Stephen Brown, hailed by The New York Times as “one of the leading figures in the current renaissance of performer-composers,” will be presented by the Redlands Symphony in two concerts on March 7th and 9th, 2024.
Mr. Brown will perform a solo piano recital on Thursday evening, March 7th, 2024, at 7:30pm PST at First Presbyterian Church of Redlands. Part of the Redlands Recital Series, this performance will feature works by Haydn, Debussy, Ravel, Von Schauroth, and Mendelssohn, as well as two of Mr. Brown's own compositions: Etude-Fantasy on the name of Haydn and Breakup Etude for Right Hand.
Mr. Brown calls this program "a composer's program," as it aims to humanizing the composers and their music; and reflects his experience as both a composer and a concertizing pianist.
About Michael Stephen Brown, piano
Praised for his "fearless performances," by The New York Times and "exceptionally beautiful" compositions by The Washington Post, pianist and composer Michael Stephen Brown is a frequent performer of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center series. Mr. Brown, whose artistry is shaped by his creative voice as a pianist and composer, will be featured in the Society 2023-24 season with a solo recital at Alice Tully Hall. A native New Yorker, he lives there with his two 19th-century Steinway Ds, Octavia and Daria.
