Mia Lapingcao is in her fourth year at Western Washington University. She is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance, with a minor in Sociology. Growing up in a Filipino household, Mia began her music journey memorizing ABBA's Dancing Queen at the age of three.

Since then, Mia has been an active performer over the years. During her time at Western, she has sung with the Advanced Treble Chorale and Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Angela Kasper and Timothy Fitzpatrick, performed as an ensemble member in the chamber opera Suor Angelica under the direction of Heather Dudenbostel, and won second place in the 2023 Virginia Glover Competition. She has also performed as a soloist with the University Choir, understudied for the chamber opera Slow Dusk, and placed as a finalist in both the 2023 and 2024 WWU Concerto Competitions.

Mia is immensely grateful for all that she has learned under the tutelage of Dr. Richard Hodges, who inspired her to pursue Vocal Performance in the first place. Upon finishing her studies at Western, Mia is looking forward to pursuing her Master's degree and beginning her professional career as a performer.
