Join percussionist Chris Whyte and pianist Maria Garcia as they disrupt the matrix with music and video by Canadian composer Nicole Lizée, whose glitching works are equal parts 80s MTV, turntablism, rave culture, Hitchcock, Kubrick, Alexander McQueen, thrash metal, psychedelia, and 60s modernism.

About María García, piano
María García has gained recognition as a soloist, collaborative pianist and teacher. Praised for her "dynamic, warmly expressive and exciting style" she was All Classical Portland Radio's 2022-2023 Artist in Residence and has recorded solo and chamber works for All Classical's Recording Inclusivity Initiative. She began piano studies in her native Puerto Rico at the age of four making her debut with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra at ten. She holds a Bachelor's of Music with Distinction in Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music and a Master's and Doctoral Studies (ABD) from SUNY Stony Brook. Her principal teachers were Luz Hutchinson, Victor Rosenbaum, and Gilbert Kalish. She has performed throughout the United States,Europe, Israel, South America, and Tunisia. In the Portland area, she collaborates with 45th Parallel Universe, Third Angle, Oregon Symphony, and Oregon Ballet Theatre, and was a founding member of the Award-winning 20 Digitus Duo. During the summer she directs the Piano Program at YMA.
