Franz Welser-Möst leads the Vienna Philharmonic in symphonic works written during a period of astonishing transformation. While rooted solidly in the emotional sweep and architectural brilliance of late Romanticism, these works by Bruckner and Berg offer a glimpse into a new world of orchestral possibilities both awesome and frightening in their vastness. "Alban Berg, who, for me, is maybe the greatest genius of the [Second Viennese School], knew exactly when to break the rules, like Mozart did, for the impact it should make on the audience," says Welser-Möst.

The printed program will last approximately 90 minutes with no intermission. Please note that there will be no late seating.
