Hear Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal under the leadership of Montréal's own Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the orchestra's artistic director since 2000 and conductor for life. They perform a New York premiere by award-winning cellist and composer Cris Derksen, who deftly combines traditional classical influences, indigenous music, and modern sonic experimentation. Pianist Tony Siqi Yun, called "a true poet of the keyboard" by Pianist Magazine, joins in Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto. The concert also features Sibelius's heroic Second Symphony, which the composer describes as "a confession of the soul."
