Experience the mesmerizing sounds of Musica Polonia, a captivating concert presented by the Viridian Winds at the Polish Home Association.

The Viridian Winds have quickly become a prominent ensemble in the Seattle music scene. Their repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary, showcasing the versatility and passion of each member performers and educators from around the Puget Sound. The group first met during their studies at the University of Washington, and since forming in 2023 have set out on multiple projects including playing in chamber music festivals, competitions, and self-produced performances.

Now, the Viridian Winds along with guest pianist and fellow UW graduate David Lin in collaboration with the Polish Home Association are presenting a concert of wind music by Polish composers. Featured in the program are composers Grażyna Bacewicz, Tadeusz Paciorkiewicz, Aleksander Tansman, and Fryderyk Chopin, including some Chopin's works reimagined and arranged for wind instruments.

About Viridian Winds

The Viridian Winds are a Seattle wind quintet formed in the summer of 2023. The ensemble is made up of graduates and current students of the University of Washington School of Music, holding or working on Bachelors and Masters degrees in music. The group's first major project involved being the featured performers at the 2023 Latino Chamber Music Festival hosted by Orquesta Northwest where they performed Aires Tropicales by Paquito D'Rivera.

About Kamil Tarnawczyk, oboe

Oboist Kamil Tarnawczyk, who was born in Zamość, Poland in 2000. Kamil grew up as a part of the Polish community in Seattle since 2006 when his family first immigrated from Horoszczyce, a rural village in southeastern Poland. Kamil is one of the few Polish American classical musicians in Seattle and since graduating from UW has been working as a freelance performer and oboe teacher, growing his private studio and playing both in professional and community ensembles, most recently as a substitute player in the Yakima Symphony, and many others.
