Perspectives artist Mitsuko Uchida is one of the greatest living performers and interpreters of Mozart, and in this ongoing, five-year project with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, she has found the perfect vehicle to explore the full magic of Mozart's piano concertos. Interplay between ensemble and soloist is impeccable, with the piano dancing in and around the orchestra as Uchida leads from her instrument. In addition to Piano Concertos No. 17 and 22, this program also features a piece recently premiered by the ensemble: Jörg Widmann's Chorale Quartet, arranged by the composer himself for chamber orchestra.
