About Arkady Orlovsky, cello

Arkady Orlovsky received his Doctorate in cello performance from the Saint Petersburg Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Mstislav Rostropovich. Soon after, Mr. Orlovsky became a laureate at the All Union Competition of the U.S.S.R. and subsequently joined the Kirov (now Mariinsky) Opera Orchestra as principal cellist. He later became principal cellist with the Rome Opera Orchestra, and after immigrating to the United States became principal cellist with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and later principal cellist with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Orlovsky often appeared as soloist with the Indianapolis Symphony where he covered the full gamut of solo cello repertoire in collaboration with conductors such as Serge Baudo, Jiri Belohlavek, John Nelson, Semyon Bychkov, Mario Venzago, Raymond Leppard, and many others. His chamber music performances have taken him around the world where he regularly performed with Chicago Pro Musica, and as soloist at the renowned Bargemusic concert venue in New York City. Mr. Orlovsky is also an avid conductor where he was music director of the Columbus Symphony orchestra in Indiana, and founder/conductor of the Russian Music Festival of Indiana where he spanned Russian orchestral repertoire from Glinka to Shostakovich. Mr. Orlovsky was also cello professor at Butler University in Indianapolis and is a faculty member at the Summit Music Festival and Institute in Westchester New York. He has recorded on the Koss, Decca and Melodiya Labels, and has produced two compact discs with his wife, concert pianist Tamara Orlovsky.

About Tamara Orlovsky, piano

"Dynamic!" "A dazzling virtuoso!" "A master musician of astonishing ability!" Everywhere she goes, Tamara receives rave reviews, and standing ovations. Performing in Bonn Germany with Pro Musica of Chicago, a newspaper described her performances as a "Musicalishe Furor." Harold Schonberg from The New York Times called her "an amazing pianist" after one of her performances. Russian born and educated, Mrs. Orlovsky was a prodigy and gave her first public recital at the age of six and her first symphony appearance at the age of ten. Mrs. Orlovsky has performed as a soloist with Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Dresden Symphony Orchestra, Volgograd Philharmonic, Springfield Symphony, Richmond Symphony, Ft. Wayne Philharmonic, Columbus Symphony, South Bend Symphony, Carmel Symphony, Kokomo Symphony, Greenville Symphony, Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony in China, Pleven Philharmonic in Bulgaria, and Tschaikovsky Festival Orchestra for 18 years. She has performed solo and chamber recitals in the USA and Europe including Carnegie Hall. Mrs. Orlovsky has taught as professor of piano at Indiana University, Indiana Central University, Huntington College, and the Special Music School in Leningrad (Russia). She has recorded 3 CDs.
