The 2024 National Pathways Festival convenes 60 talented pre-college musicians of color from Pathways programs across the country for a multi-day musical intensive. The 2024 fellows, including six of our own Accelerando students, were selected through a competitive audition process to study and perform with Nashville Symphony musicians. The festival will culminate in a side-by-side concert led by Giancarlo Guerrero.

The Pathways Festival weekend is presented in partnership with Equity Arc. To learn more about Equity Arc, please visit https://equityarc.org/event/national-pathways-festival-summit/

The Pathways Festival Side-by-Side performance is presented in partnership with Equity Arc, The Big Blue Opera Initiative's Harry T. Burleigh Festival, and the National Museum of African American Music.

Admission is FREE or Choose-What-You-Pay, but tickets must be reserved in advance.

About Equity Arc

Musicians of color make up less than 15%* of orchestral musicians. Equity Arc levels the playing field by developing new pathways that empower BIPOC instrumentalists to pursue their passions.

We work collectively with partners at all stages of the journey, from early studies to conservatory to career, to transform classical music from within.

About The Big Blue Opera Initiative's Harry T. Burleigh Festival

Founded in the fall of 2015, the Big Blue Opera Initiatives (BBOI) is an outreach, performance training, and fundraising program serving the vocal students of Tennessee State University, local and national HBCUs, and underrepresented communities. The aim is to promote, expose, and support deserving students and communities too often left out of quality performing arts opportunities in Nashville and around the country. The 105 Voices of History National HBCU Choir, Opera America, the National Museum of African American Music, the Colour of Music Festival, the Harry T. Burleigh Society and the Narnia Festival are among BBOI’s national partners. Through programing such as vocal masterclasses, artists residencies, career workshops, and the nationally recognized Harry T. Burleigh Spiritual Festival, BBOI works to end the stereotypes of what opera and classical music are and who they are for.
