About Lipscomb University Chorale

The University Chorale is the premiere choir of the School of Music at Lipscomb University. This ensemble is open by audition to all Lipscomb Students. All are eligible for scholarship through audition.

The choir has toured throughout the United States. Additionally, the choir is a featured performance at “Lighting of the Green," recording artist Amy Grant's Christmas celebration.

About Lipscomb Wind Ensemble

The Lipscomb Wind Ensemble, conducted by Dr. Ben Blasko, is dedicated to engaging high quality music of all styles and genres. The wind ensemble has performed with artists such as Cody Fry and Colton Dixon, and commissioned works by composers such as John Mackey, Bruce Broughton, Jeff Herwig, and Bruce Yurko. The ensemble is open to both music majors and non-majors. Students who participate in the Lipscomb Wind Ensemble are eligible for scholarships through audition.

About Matt Taylor, conductor

Matt Taylor is the Director of Choral Activities and Music Education at Lipscomb University. A passionate educator and conductor, Matt spent five years as an Associate Choral Director at Wando High School in Charleston, SC, where he contributed to the growth of one of the state’s largest choral programs. Most recently he served on the faculty of the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts as director of the Governor's School Chorale. He has served as a conductor for district and university honor choirs in South Carolina, and has directed high school and church choirs across the southeast as a guest conductor. Matt made his international conducting debut in 2022 with the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, where he was selected as one of five emerging guest conductors from across North America.

Matt has performed in collegiate, community, and professional choirs as a vocalist, and is an active instrumentalist and composer. He has performed in symphonies, chamber groups, and jazz ensembles as a double bassist. He has been a career-long member of the American Choral Directors Association, and has served twice as a member of the ACDA Southern Region Conference Committee.

About Benjamien Blasko, conductor

Dr. Ben Blasko is the Director of Instrumental Studies at Lipscomb University where he oversees the vision for instrumental ensembles & private instruction. Ben holds degrees from the University of North Texas, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Messiah University. He has conducted groups such as the Nashville Symphony, Boston Symphony, the North Texas Wind Symphony, and the Agora Brass Ensemble. His music has been played all over the world by groups such as the Nashville, Boston, and Colorado Symphonies, the United States Air Force and Navy Bands, Israeli State Band, and numerous collegiate ensembles. Additionally, he has orchestrated music for OneRepublic, Colton Dixon, and Disney. You can find his work on the Naxos, Mark Custom, Klavier, and Capitol record labels. His conducting teachers include Eugene Migliaro Corporon, Jack Stamp, Dennis Fisher, Brad Genevro, William Stowman, and Timothy Dixon. Ben has studied composition with Bruce Broughton, Jack Stamp, Kirsten Broberg, Bruce Yurko, and Alvin Singleton.
