About Noire (Spelman College Contemporary Popular Music Ensemble)

Founded in 2017, Noire is Spelman's Contemporary Popular Music Ensemble. All instruments and voice types are welcome, including those performing on non-conventional instruments, such as computer or MIDI controllers.

Noire offers students an ensemble experience and an in-depth understanding of contemporary musical styles by writing, arranging, rehearsing, recording, and performing repertoire from a wide range of styles. Members of Noire have the opportunity to create original music, workshop compositions with their fellow musicians, develop their technique as both a performer and a creator, and learn how to incorporate technology into their performance in new and innovative ways.
