Voices in Brooklyn! Voices of Ascension return to Downtown Brooklyn's Roulette Intermedium with special collaborative partners The Unsung Collective. Our ensemble will collaboratively create a program around the theme of music as a bridge: between different communities, between self and something greater, and between performer and audience. Under the guidance of Voices of The New Curator Hai-Ting Chinn and Unsung Artistic Director Tyrone Clinton, a 12-voice chamber chorus will present world premieres of Evan Blaché's Unrelenting and Unstoppable (a setting of an original text by poet Regina Williams) and Danielle Jagelski's What Do You See. This group of artists will bring their varied perspectives to the program as they democratically program, rehearse, and take turns leading the group during the performance, creating a program featuring choral favorites old and new that wrestle with the theme of existing in multiple worlds at once—socially, politically, and literally.
