Sno-King Community Chorale: 'The Drop That Contained the Sea' by Christopher Tin
$40 ($30 senior/student, $25 youth)
As the title of this beautiful contemporary work suggests, Christopher Tin brings to life the realization of a Sufi concept: just as a single drop of water contains the essence of the entire ocean, inside every human being is the essence of all humanity. Tin says, "Each movement is inspired by water in a different form, arranged in the order that water flows through the world: melting snow, mountain streams, rivers, the ocean, and so forth. Each of the 10 movements is sung in a different language, exploring different vocal traditions."
Under the direction of Dustin Willetts, and featuring guest soloists and our newly formed 50+ member Salish Sea Orchestra, Sno-King Community Chorale will be joined by Kulshan Chorus (Bellingham), Cantabile Chamber Choir (Mt. Vernon), and Bellevue High School Chorale and Treble Ensemble.
