John Walling, tuba, is a founding member of the Portland Brass Quintet and has performed with west coast symphonies and brass groups during the last 30 years including the Santa Cruz Symphony, San Jose Symphony, Reed Street Brass Quintet, and Burbank Symphony. John received his music performance degree at the University of California at Santa Cruz. As a brass and band specialist, John teaches with the MUSE Band Program and currently works with over 100 students. He also plays tuba, trombone, and string bass with several local jazz ensembles including Jass Two plus One, Stumptown Jazz, and The Swingtyme Jazz Band.
