Jeanne Bourgeois Swanson

Jeanne Bourgeois Swanson has served as Assistant Concertmaster with the Spokane Symphony Orchestra since 2008. She has a doctorate in violin performance from the Eastman School of Music, a master’s from Northwestern University and an undergraduate degree from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Jeanne has held orchestral positions with the Syracuse Symphony, Sarasota Opera, Utah Festival Opera, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. She was Associate Concertmaster of the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra and has also served as Concertmaster of the Spoleto USA Festival Orchestra in Charleston, S.C. As a soloist, she has performed with the Spokane Symphony Orchestra, Spokane Youth Strings, Starling Chamber Orchestra (Cincinnati), as well as the West Suburban Symphony Orchestra (Chicago). She is on the sublist for the Seattle, Vancouver and Oregon Symphonies. She currently teaches at North Idaho College and has taught at Whitworth University, Eastern Washington University, and Washington State University String Camp and also maintains a large private violin studio in Spokane. In her free time, Jeanne enjoys exploring the Inland Northwest, cooking and traveling with her husband, Stephen Swanson, and their daughter, Roslyn.
