D. Riley Nicholson – Without (world premiere)
Composer and pianist D. Riley Nicholson, takes listeners through a program of his past musical influences, culminating in the world premiere of his recent solo piano work, Without. Works to include music by Poulenc, Satie, Meredith Monk, and Hans Otte, each providing an example of musical inventiveness that has inspired Riley’s compositions. Nicholson’s new work, Without, candidly and reverently displays these influences and captures an isolated and dissonant mood also influenced by current events.
