Lecture On Silence for Chicago is one iterative culmination of Jillian DeGroot’s several-years-long journey toward and with silence. Starting in 2019, she began traveling across the United States trying to get as close to the absence of sound as possible – learning, stretching, growing, and, many times, failing. Inspired by John Cage’s infamous Lecture On Nothing, here she presents a lecture-performance on silence for Chicago.
